Have spent the week cloistered in the house with no money to spend (due to bank morons) and essays to write. So far, I am one essay down and 3 to go and I am still not 100% happy with the one I have done. However, it is due in tomorrow and if I try to fix all the problems with it I will be heading away from the 'just over the word limit' of 2,300 words and into the heady reaches of 'may as well write a bloody dissertation about this'. So, I have set it printing and will be making a start on essay two. Also, tomorrow I have a meeting with someone to help me with essay three. As for essay four... well, not even had a chance to look at the title for that one yet. So lots to do over the upcoming easter break.
Last week I finally managed to get to see Watchmen at the cinema. Took advantage of the fact I was no longer required anywhere else to pootle into town and visit the cinema. Very interesting film and very enjoyable. Apart from one fairly major change (this being the villain's actual plan) the film does seem to follow the book very closely, including a fair few lines of dialogue which are more or less plucked straight from the page of the novel. Have also downloaded the soundtrack and have noted a number of little nods to aspects of the plot here and there in that too... some of them are quoted in the book (i.e. the Bob Dylan track) and one of them references the Black Freighter (or, more likely since it is an old song, was part of the inspiration for the Black Freighter) even though the Black Freighter is not mentioned anywhere in the film.
This weekend it is my Birthday which is probably another reason why I have been a little down this week. Seems to happen every year (most memorably that Omega event where I just got so badly maudlin I barely remembered the event at all). I usually pick up afterwards, though. Got some things planned for the weekend which should be fun so looking forward to them.
