A short note... those who enjoyed this weekend's Doctor Who should check out 'Continuity Errors' in Decalog 3 by a certain Mr Moffat... at least one similarity there and one of the best Who stories I have read...

Had a good weekend with the in laws this weekend. Much wine and nice food was consumed and even though we failed to visit Ironbridge or any of the other places we intended to go to (due to injury problems, weather and sleeping until too late) it was still a fun weekend.

Sunday's trip to Canon Hill Park was slightly marred when Eddie got into a fight. Now, bear in mind that Eddie is a relatively small dog (not small enough to qualify as a small dog but not quite big enough to be a medium) so what breed of dog do you think he chose to pick a fight with? A full grown male Rottweiller called Achilles. It all seemed to come about due to a misunderstanding over something Eddie said to this Rottweiller's Boxer bitch friend. There was a bit of a scuffle, Eddie had to be picked up to get him away from the fight and even Odin (big soft lump of a golden retriever that he is) was wading in to defend little Eddie. Afterwards all dogs involved were wagging tails and looking all innocent in a 'Fight? Who, us? No, we're best friends us' sort of way. You know, the same way that Prisoners and children do when the Warden/Teacher happens onto a fight. Sarah described it as a 'did you spill my pint' moment but I think it was probably more of a 'Did you call my wife a pouf' sort of thing.

The upshot of this was that Eddie has a wound on his flank, on the opposite side but otherwise more or less the same position as the wound he had on his flank last year after he picked a fight with another large dog (that time an Alsation). Still, as we keep telling him, 'Chicks dig scars' and he may be able to milk this for at least a few weeks of sympathy and treats from old women he meets in the park. The vet has looked at it, shaved him and given him a shot of antibiotics and he is now fine - just sleeping off the pain and discomfort.

Today I learnt that I am indeed still going to teach my A level class two days a week until possibly the end of term (well, until they have their exams in July anyway...). However, job search is still ongoing. I am looking seriously at a number of roles offered in the Police forensic service - something I previously discounted because I thought you needed a forensic qualification of some form. Seems you don't... I'll keep you all informed as to how the applications go...
