Student Nationals
Apr. 2nd, 2008 02:04 pmWell, after many years of trying, Manchester Met have finally won the student nationals and will be hosting it next year. As a result of this, a call has gone out to all ex-members of the Games Soc at Man Met to get help running and reffing. So, muggins here has volunteered... which means I am now full of ideas for potential games...
I have volunteered to do either Open Sci Fi or (if they decide to have one) LRP as I have ideas for both of these that will work reasonably well. For the LRP, Sarah suggested running the dark ages game we planned together years ago however, I have had another idea which I may run - a one off Waypoint event. The only trouble is that this may involve lots of kit being somehow magically transported from Birmingham to Manchester and since Sarah is likely to be on dog watching duty this may be a problem...
My idea for the open sci fi is not much different. I want to do a reverse Martin and turn an existing LRP game into a tabletop to run 'Waypoint the Tabletop' (for those who don't know, Riftworld used to be a tabletop game run by Martin for a group of people who now largely make up the ref/crew team). I think I may be able to botch together a quick tabletop version of the rules (just bolt the specifics onto some generic existing rules that serve the purpose...) and put together a nice little plot for it.
If it ends up being the LRP version, I could do with some people to pop along and help crew it. I'll put out a general call for help when I know for certain what is happening...
