Just got a call from Sarah to say that she is stuck in traffic in what looks like shaping up to be a re-enactment of the 'infamous Birmingham its got a bit snowy and icy gridlock'. It does not look as though she is likely to be home anytime soon and is, in fact, considering finding somewhere warm and safe where she can park and sit in a pub or cafe and read until the traffic dies down a bit. She's also calculating contingency plans involving abandoning the car, hitching up some yak, hiring some Sherpas and trekking over the icy wastes back home. I've been told to prepare for the requirement of eating alone tonight and so am planning to commit an omlette. Eddie will act as the lookout in exchange for a cut of the profits while I perform unspeakable acts in the kitchen with eggs, a frying pan and some cheese.

I wish I'd bothered to make pea soup this week as I had planned. Maybe next week...

For those who have not been paying attention this past few days (or who live in god foresaken areas like Preston which don't beleive in snow), Brum is currently in the grip of a second ice age. Want to know how bad it is? Well, at 1:30pm I cleared the drive completely. By 3pm it was covered again. And not just 'a light covering of snow' I am talking about several inches cover. In less than 2 hours. The last time I saw snow this bad it was in the far gone days of yore when Maggie Thatcher was still in the White house telling the president how to think. And this was in the north, on the coast where you sort of expect it to be colder than the tropical climes of the Midlands and South.

Eddie's walks have been both cleaner (no mud) and fun this past two days as he has been completely confused by snow. Sarah's Lj has pictures I suggest you go look at. He did manage to lose two frisbees in the snow, however. I am hoping that they will still be there when the big thaw happens in a few days time so we can retrieve them. This is assuming we can get to them before some other dog does... I've also been enjoying the last few days off. Time to catch up on things I really needed to sort out such as the Foreign Fields fair at the end of this month. Need to chivvy up the players and crew to find out who is able to come along to this to help out and also sort out promo stuff. Myki is supposedly sorting out some poster designs, I intend to have the Pit fight films on show if I can get a laptop to run them and Sarah has suggested CDs with the rules and other info saved on them to give away. Need to sort out some CD label stickers that actually work with my printer unlike the last ones I bought... Need bodies to sit around enthusing now...

Also managed to get a lot of writing done this week. Almost done with Transitions now. Its not even 'all done bar the shouting' cos I just wrote the shouting bit on Monday. Its all over bar the tying up the loose ends, at the moment. I've had the final epilogue in my mind for a while now. It is currently weighing in at a respectable 16.5K words. Also did my required crits for the Dreaming in Ink workshop leaving me time next week to do a few more to add to my score. I posted a story for critting there as well to see if anyone has any suggestions for ways to fix it...

And thats all for this week, really...
