Ttrying to make maths interesting...
Mar. 6th, 2009 10:13 amAnd so far only suceeding by carefully picking objectives that I can think of interesting activities for. Its still hard as I can't find that many...
Yesterday's observation did not go well at all. Basically, to sum up the comments, I need to stop trying to assume they are as clever as a secondary pupil and make assumptions based on the fact that they will forget everything I tell them the next day... Mind you, I think some of them are a lot cleverer than some secondary pupils I have seen which may be why I have been pushing them hard... they totally got normal distributions it just so happens that the tutor caught all of us in a bad day...
Anyway, this morning I am on PPA time which means I get to sit in the staff room on my laptop and try to plan next week's maths lessons. So far, I have a lot of good stuff on word problems and rectangles but am trying to get some of the more abstract objectives in as well...
Later we are planning a newspaper article and surveying the class for thier favourite sports....
