Back from Serenity...
Nov. 2nd, 2008 09:15 pmHad great fun. A few issues I think they need to work out (both logisitically and rules wise) as a few things were jarring and the plot team seemed to lack flexibility at times (they had a definite 'this is what is going to happen' attitude at times) but it was otherwise good fun. It seemed stuck in that strange phase space between 'small scale' and 'fest' in that they had a fest style player size (about the same as Artificer) but were running a small scale plot.
Worst bit OOC: Getting to the event. Buses and trains are not the best way to travel and I had limited carrying space and forgot some important props... Others may have said the cold but I didn't find it too bad. In fact, due to thermals I was too hot most of the weekend...
Best bit OOC: Seeing a lot of people I don't often see and getting to see where Mike lives... Also, finding an IC caterer who will handle gluten free remarkably well (apart from bacon butties... but my bacon sandwich made entirely out of bacon was very nice all the same)
Scariest bit IC: A combination of things all revolving around Kate Lake including: Finding out her NPCs name and who she was related to (Nishka, from the series...), walking into a firepit area to see her arguing with a man in Russian who was flanked by two 'goons' and realising who the man was and finally finding out she was pregnant thereby making the medical treatment to save her life after she got shot all the more difficult ['what do you mean we can't use drugs!'] and stressful with the most brutal gangster in the 'verse watching us as we worked...
Best bits IC: too many to name but I did enjoy playing Leale a lot, especially making random comments when other players are talking 'war stories' such as 'oh yes, I do remember the stock market took a real beating that month.' I also enjoyed randomly motivating the mechanics to get on and do something about the 'leaky roof' by being organised and managerial at them even though it had nothing to do with me... The McSkippies were also fun to interact with once they got out from behind the serving hatch.
Tired but happy now... glad to be home with Sarah and Eddie.
School tomorrow and lots of teaching to do...
