You come to my daughter's wedding...
Mar. 4th, 2008 08:58 amHad a few good things come up yesterday. None of them are likely to make me a millionaire anytime soon but the nice thing quotient is always a good thing to increase.
1st of all, my sister asked me to be a Godfather. I am therefore stocking up on appropriate Marlon Brando esque cliches. Sam is being christened on the 6th of July this year which is nicely convenient for all. And yes, before anyone points it out, it is traditional in our family for atheists and agnostics to be godparents as we are the sort of Pratchett Lancre type family who use religion as some form of celestial book keeping organisation and only ever go to church for weddings, funerals and christenings... This my be heresy or hypocrisy but so far none of us have been struck by lightening. I suspect the 'striking by lightening' department is busy with more extreme heretics. If they exist.
I am however planning to watch the Omen again to be extra aware of all the 'bad signs' to watch for... :)
Second piece of news which is less exciting to many is that the purported publisher of the anthology I am managing (and have been managing for the past few years on and off) have tentatively agreed to release it pending review of the stories involved and so on. Nothing is therefore definite as yet but movement is definitely in the direction of publication.
Now, off to teach more about the Liver and am hoping that this time the canteen will have liver and onions on the menu to battle those cravings I had the last time I taught the liver... :)
