Lazy day

Day off work today so relaxing and waiting for Sarah's parcel to arrive. It has still not arrived which is annoying as it means I have not been able to take Eddie for a second walk before it gets dark, nor have I been able to go to the pet shop for him. Phone call to the delivery company yielded the classic weasel excuse of 'Oh, we deliver right up until 5.30pm' which is really helpful.

I am also still waiting for my prescription which is due today and still not here... I had to yet again go and beg the pharmacist for a loan to tide me over until I get it. They are usually ok about it (after all, the alternative is to let me die...) but it is a pain.

A delivery from Amazon did arrive so I now have Black Books DVD and we also have BSG series 3 to watch (again). The list of DVDs to watch is now massive as I am not watching them as much as I used to due to spending 4 days a week in work.

Yesterday I finally got a new bus pass. It may not sound like much to report but to me it is great to be once again able to just get on and off buses and trains without needing to pay. I also noticed on Monday that the price of buses has gone up by another 10p this year. I am not holding my breath waiting to see if there is a relative improvement in service.

A thought that amused me today: Sarah's copy of Cosmo (yes, I realise I may be challenging preconceptions about my wife which some of you may have by telling you that she reads Cosmo :) ) has a tagline on the cover of 'Shop like a Genius'. I have been wondering exactly what this means. Personally I think it means you wander around the shop looking lost and confused with a far away look in your eye because you are distracted by 'higher thoughts'. Finally, someone comes looking for you because you have been missing in the shop for 4 hours. They find you in the frozen food section scribbling arcane equations into the frost on the freezer doors because you were suddenly struck by an interesting take on the Unified Field equation problem... Despite solving said mathematical equations you have yet again forgotten to buy the milk you went to the shop for and have instead bought a new wok and a packet of corn plasters.

Somehow I do not think this is what Cosmo means by 'shop like a genius'. However, the more accurate 'shop like a person with a modicum of common sense and intelligence' neither scans properly nor fits on the space available... :)
