...because we are still on holiday. In fact, we are still on holiday until Monday. Though then I have to drag myself in at the time that dare not speak its name so it all balances out. plus, it seems that I am not being paid either the promised holiday pay from Balfor at all (well, seen nothing of it since I was told about it) or the money for the weeks work I did before the holiday (at least not until actual pay day this month which is the 29th). So, I am having to travel to Solihull and feed myself lunches on absolutely no money at all. So it seems I will have to borrow some from Sarah who is also short having accidently paid her credit card bill twice this month. Ah well, only one month of this and then its 'regular pay' for at least two more months which will be good. Especially as I may have to pay for a train ticket to get to my own event in Feb due to not being able to finish work until 4 and Sarah needing to load and drive the kit van sometime in the afternoon to get it there in time for set up.

Anyway, yesterday we had fun walking the dog and failing to order stuff from Argos due to their online ordering service playing silly buggers with us. We also went to see the Golden Compass and noticed not only the 'Look! All the Magisterium are classic Villans' bit that Salyavin noted (I mean, Derek Jacobi AND Christopher Lee in the *same* room in the same film!) but also the rather cool segement where it suddenly and briefly becomes a Bond film. Seriously, Daniel Craig in snow being chased by 'goons with guns'? I was expecting the classic theme song to erupt, snow mobiles to appear from nowhere and Bond (sorry, Asriel) to leap off a cliff with a Union jack parachute while Shirly Bassey launches into the opening title song, entitled 'Goldcompass'. You know... 'Goldcompass... he's the man, the man with the Golden Compass...'. If we later find out that a particular member of the Magisterium has a third nipple then the parody will be complete (and true Bond fans should know which member of the Magisterium this would be... :))

In all a good film, even if it did chop and change a lot of the order of events (mainly to give it a sensible cinematic finale), lose the twist at the end (but setting up for this to happen at the start of film 2) and have characters who seem to have amazing perceptive and intuitive abilities ('General Oblation Board. omg! They are the Gobblers!) In the book there is a more logical progression to how they figure stuff out.

Surprise!

Two posts in one day... yep, I am still on holiday :)

And it seems that I have wronged the agency as not long after I posted this morning saying I had no money due to them not paying me my holiday money then a payslip comes through the door. So, I am not spending january worrying about money... I can afford to get to work!

Spent today shopping to spend vouchers and stuff. Have a new book, a couple of new DVDs and a list of things I want to buy once feb comes around and I can afford them.

Tomorrow, if it continues to not snow, we will do something interesting involving castles
