Bloody tiles
Sep. 3rd, 2007 09:59 pmIt has taken me all day to get as far as the sink. And this is just one level of tiles (the ones nearest the work unit). A lot of the time it was literally chip away at each tile, a small chunk at a time. Two main problems - the adhesive is too strong and the plaster behind it is far too weak in places. There are now large chunks of plaster missing where a piece of tile has finally come away and taken most of the wall with it.
I also need to get it finished before tomorrow but can't do any tonight as we just realised that someone has (finally) moved into the house next door and Sarah seems to think that me banging on the walls that adjoin our properties with a lump hammer and screaming obscenities about stupid previous owners at 10 oclock may upset them a little. Not sure why. We had to put up with it from the builders renovating the property for months on end while I was trying to do work...
As an aside... anyone know of or are a decent plasterer and tile person. The walls almost certainly need replastering now and I am having severe doubts about my ability to single handed retile the kitchen (including the floor) anytime before the next millenium. I'd rather pay someone to come in and do it all in an afternoon. Or at least have a suitably skilled mate who can tell me what to do and help with the tricky bits :)
