gURL.comI took the "The Nine Muses" quiz on gURL.com
My muse is...
Calliope

Calliope is the patron goddess of epic poetry. She is often depicted holding a writing tablet and wearing a golden crown, for she is the oldest of the muses and their leader. Her name means "The Fair Voiced," but Calliope inspires eloquence in writing. Read more...

Hole in the ground in front of house: Still there despite assurances yesterday from complaints department (sorry, customer services) that it would be dealt with. Chavs in the area keep knocking over the barriers.

Ribs: No longer sore.

Teeth: Wisdom teeth are playing up again. May be an infection... will have to track down dentist who is still NHS unlike my previous one who switched to the dark side and wants to charge me £10 a month for my 2 check ups a year rather than the £5 per check up.

Computer problems: Seem to be fixed. Finally managed to find the means to uninstall the dodgy virus checker and firewall etc and installed fresh. Fresh install now seems to work fine - I can do things like change the settings on the firewall to allow certain programs (like outlook) access where before I couldn't. My downloads are all working fine and sarah's is 'sort of' working. For a given value of 'working'.

Eddie: Is sunbathing. He hasn't even come for his normal lunchtime cuddle and even didn't shift when I opened a packet of crisps in the living room (normally I have to do this really quietly, such as in a bunker deep beneath the earth several hundred miles away, otherwise he hears and comes scrounging). So far he has done nothing to get a tan - he is still as pale and white as ever. Only his face is looking at all tanned :)

Spent some time in the garden with the laptop today, which was nice. Wrote some stuff (some waypoint plot stuff, some fiction) and caught some rays while Eddie did the same (well, not the writing but I suspect he was thinking about Doggiepedia entries for posting in the park later). Also surfed a bit, the main benefit of wireless internet :) Realised that this is the first summer in a long time that I haven't had a submission deadline to complete which will inevitably lead to me missing most of the social stuff going on.

Battlestar Galactica finished last night and I even managed to watch most of it despite Eddie deciding that it was a good time to play the 'steal the socks from the laundry basket' game.

I have been depressingly not called for work all this week. I am not around next week to be called. I hope I manage to get enough saved up over the next few months to cover the holiday slump. Also hoping that the holiday slump has not already started.

Preparations for St Davids are beckoning later this week then it is Riftworld...
