The weekend in brief
Apr. 2nd, 2007 11:32 amSpent most of the weekend when we weren't walking the dog sitting in the house secure in the knowledge that Sarah was outside doing garden work and I wasn't. The garden now looks good and it has nothing to do with me, unless you count fuelling the gardener with occasional cups of peppermint tea.
Saturday evening was going out for a meal for Sam's birthday. We went to the all you can eat buffet in Selly Oak and it was good, apart from having to wait in the cold for Sam to turn up 30 minutes late. There was also an issue with off wine to deal with but the bar tender was quick to agree that it was not red wine but vinegar and it was quickly replaced. Spent most of the rest of the night talking with Sam about pretty much everything.
Sunday was more dog walking, after lunch in a cafe in Cannon Hill park, and more gardening to be watched. We then went out to the cinema to see Hot Fuzz. Had originally intended to go see Amazing Grace but when we saw that Hot Fuzz was surprisingly still running we decided to go see that instead, figuring that Amazing Grace will probably still be running over the next few weeks whereas Hot Fuzz is likely to be gone soon. All I can say is that it is an excellent film and well worth a watch. I fully intend to get the DVD when it is available, especially if there is a 'Homageometer' as I suspect there are some doozies in there. Parodies of everything from Hollywood action films to Hammer horror and films like The Wickerman, The Omen and so on. Also worthwhile for a game of 'spot the British actor' as the cast is pretty much composed of every single British actor who ends up in Hollywood comedies these days. Double points if you manage to spot Marcia from Spaced... :)
Today I need to sort out the waypoint kit abd the lawn needs mowing. Make a start on that after lunch, I think...
