As has been posted elsewhere in LJ (and will be cross posted to Pagga once it is back up and running and maybe some other forums), Waypoint (and indeed LRP in general) has had a bit of a body blow recently with the closure of the Portly Pixie site. Originally, when the Pixie closed its doors last year, the intention was to keep the site open and book it out to LRP groups. However, the bookings were not good enough (despite a lot of interest) and the farmer who owns the land has now been offered a big wadge of folding stuff to use the place for storage. You can't really blame him but it now means that yet another indoors LRP site is no more.

A question I have to ask is, why do we have such a dearth of decent indoor sites? The Leeds indoor site fell due to the landlord pulling the plug. Burnley Shadowkeep is still there but now far too dilapidated to use according to some reports I have heard. The Pixie site is closed. Where else can events that require tunnels, hidden rooms, locked doors and other cool stuff like that run now?

If anyone knows, please let me know.

I'd also be interested in looking at a couple of airsoft sites, the ones with proper urban settings - several buildings mocked up to look like a real town. But I am not sure how much these things cost to hire or even if they would allow LRPers to hire them. My one attempt to contact one of these sites did not receive a response so I assume they were not interested.

So, as it stands, Narcissus Unveiled is in crisis. To run Narcissus as it should be run we require a site with the following characteristics (in order of preference):

- A real bunker with several rooms and a place that can be isolated from the rest of the site. So far, our forays into Sub Brit and other sources to find one have led to nothing. The sites have either been sold before we got to book and the new owners not interested or the MoD have said no way.

- A place with a decent interaction area (a building) with a seperate area, again which can be closed off completely, with lots of tunnels in it (like Burnley but safety issues currently prohibit that one).

- A large building with many rooms (large and small) which can be used for interacting in. Preferably with some of them able to be isolated by one door (or at least the place set up so that we can label any excess doors as OOC)

- A place with two buildings, preferably close together but not necessarily visible from each other.

Failing all of that, we'll probably hire another scout site and run a Newgate based event... :(

If anyone can find any of these, please let me know by whatever means you can. Comment here or e-mail me or, if you spot me in the street, say hello, introduce yourself, and tell me. No, sod it, tell me first, THEN do the niceties. I may even listen to the niceties if I am not already making the phone call to book the site you suggest :)

In general, however, there needs to be something done about the indoor site situation. I know of at least two people who have considered buying or long term leasing a warehouse to run as a site - setting up tunnels, a shopping area and so on. Not sure if they will ever make it, but I hope that they do. There is definitely a gap in the market now...
